Yo friends. Not sure if you’ve seen this pedal that I’ve been working on. I’m pretty stoked about it, and thought I’d talk about it more in long form here. Honestly this is the most excited I’ve been about a pedal and aesthetic in a long time. It’s really rad.
Check it out here
The idea for this pedal came from thinking about making an homage to one of my favorite pedals of all time - the Klon Centaur. Make no mistake, this is a DRV (not a Klon) lol. I thought it would be funny to use the font from that pedal. And then from there, doing germanium clipping came to mind. And let me tell you this - germanium clipping is awesome on the DRV circuit. It’s hard to use words to describe how this sounds, but it’s thicker in the gain structure, more fat-ness in the midrange. It’s a cool sound. Very thick. I like to compare the difference as being vanilla vs vanilla bean. It’s not wildly different, but different enough to notice. I’m gonna put one on my personal board. Also, because it looks so good! Eventually the idea of the DeLorean came from my personal obsession with the car, the year, the lore, Back To The Future, etc. Cause, what else am I gonna put on it? A Centaur? Heavens no.
Comes in four variants, Gold and Silver, with and without DeLorean
This is not a re-brand. This is just a tribute.

Using NOS 1N34A germanium diodes, are these the magical ones? You decide. Is this a mythical pedal? This is an extremely “professional” variation of the DRV, and the first variation to offer this spec. Just to be clear, this will not make the DRV circuit sound “more like another pedal”, but is a great sounding variation.
This enclosure is raw aluminum, and I think this one is my favorite. Each unit will look slightly different. The gold and silver will each have a slight matte clear coat to protect the finish. Each pedal will look slightly different due to the unique nature of the enclosure process.

I’ll talk about the sonic qualities a bit now -
The low end has more juice to it. That is the best word I can come up with to describe what is happening. Less click and more sauce, it has a nice little sag to it, but could still do a full pop-punk set. Almost a bit of a fuzz character, but also seems to let more of the clean signal through. The midrange is a little more smooth (less spiked). There is more gain overall. The palm mutes are deeper, thicker. A nice fat-ness overall, you know? It isn’t the same sound as the MOD 1 or PROTOTYPE, or any other variation I’ve done.
The sweep of the CUT knob is slightly different, and is considerably less bright, even compared to other mods I’ve done, this is the “most warm”, which I think is really nice. You can actually pull the CUT knob back below halfway and still have a very warm and balanced sound. This mod does make the overall output SLIGHTLY less, but is close, and will still get plenty louder than your clean signal.
Also pictured, the germanium diodes will be “tented” with a resistor, which helps get max volume out the circuit, and also sounds much better in my opinion. I also love the hand-built old school boutique touch of this.
Also notable that germanium diodes can be susceptible to extreme heat. In my testing of this, I found the effects to be minimal, but it is Winter here in Tennessee.
These pedals (from this batch) will be hand assembled by Jack and I, in Nashville, TN.
Comes with a 1981 Inventions sticker, and a limited edition hand drawn DRV manual.
Runs on 9v standard (boss style) power, the germanium diodes are best suited for 12v or less
